The Public Procurement (Preference to Make in India), Order 2017 was issued pursuant to Rule 153(iii) of the General Financial Rules 2017 as an enabling provision to promote domestic value addition in public procurement. With the “Atmanirbhar” and “Make in India” initiatives of Government of India, it is expected and envisaged that usage of “Made in India” products in government procurement shall catalyse the indigenization efforts and promote local manufacturing, thereby enhancing income and job opportunities for local masses while contributing to the Indian economy and Nation building.
